Sandra Bland was a 28-year-old African American woman who was found hanged in a jail cell in Waller County, Texas, on July 13, 2015, three days after being arrested during a pretextual traffic stop.[1][2] Her death was ruled a suicide. It was followed by protests against her arrest, disputing the cause of death, and alleging racial violence against her.
Eyewitness accounts
In a video recorded by a bystander, Bland is lying on the ground with Encinia and a female police officer above her. Bland says that she cannot hear, and states that the officer has slammed her head into the ground. She tells him that she is epileptic. This is confirmed by police dashcam video footage, in which the officer responds "Good," after Bland informs him of her condition. In the video, Encinia orders the bystander to leave the area.[32]
Sandra Bland also recorded the arrest on her own cell phone; that video became public in 2019, and was not part of the civil trial evidence.

The Louisville Metro Council's Public Safety Committee unanimously approved "Breonna's Law," an ordinance that would regulate and provide guidelines for LMPD's use of no-knock warrants. The ordinance was proposed after Breonna Taylor was killed during the execution of a no-knock warrant at her home March 13. It takes no-knock warrants may only be obtained in cases involving imminent threat of harm or death to officers or civilians. It also limits the offense these warrants can be used for: murder, hostage taking, kidnapping, terrorism, human trafficking and sexual trafficking. The warrant for the raid that Taylor died in was obtained for drug charges.

Being held on a $50,000 bond
Jamarcus Glover, 30, and was charged with drug and trafficking. Glover was one of the people listed on the no-knock warrant, which was served on Taylor's residence in March, the day she was killed.
She was caught in the crossfire that resulted from confusion and chaos, after the police burst in looking for suspects who were not there. Her death sparked national protests and outrage as she was a former EMT and aspiring nurse.
Taylor, nor any of the other people present during the police raid were listed on the warrant.
