4: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. |
5: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. |
6: In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. |

At first glance, it is obvious. Jesus’s love is the ultimate reservoir of unending peace and undying prosperity. Submission to the will of God through the love of Jesus Christ is the elixir for all troubles and woes in the world. But after I read the part that says “my commands…will prolong your life,” I began to think—does faith in God lead to a longer lifespan, based on science? I did some research, and quickly found my answer—unequivocally, YES! According to PsychologyToday, those with a strong religious foundation in Christ tend to avoid depression, which is often a direct cause of heart disease, and therefore mortality. Furthermore, Health expert H.G. Koenig asserts that “Religious Americans are reported to have more robust immune systems, lower blood pressure, and better recovery times from operations.” Psychology today also reports that “Attending church provides many potential health advantages including promotion of a healthier lifestyle, improved stress management, and better social support.”
As it turns out, faith in Jesus Christ really does lengthen your life!
